The planet of Noman's Land is where humanity crashed after their attempted escape from Earth. The crash was unintentional and was caused by Vash's twin brother Nai. This planet is incredibly inhospitable to life and so to generate power, humans use plants who live their lives in jars generating power for humanity to use and live off of. Nai and Vash wound up separated after the crash and Vash was imprisoned with a living SEEDS group, for the rest of his time maturing until he appeared as the adult he is today.

Ever nomadic, Vash has been looking to explore the world and reconnect with Nai. The problem that Vash has is that everyhwere he goes - chaos follows, and that chaos goes by the names of Millions Knives, the name that Nai has adopted. Vash enjoys meeting new people and experiencing all life has to offer, while being actively hunted. The damage Knives causes has been attributed to Vash, despite Vash not doing anything to deserve it and so he has a $$6,000,000 bounty. Knives has made it so that everyone is hunting Vash at every opportunity in an effort to get him to understand that humanity is beyond redemption.

Knives and Vash meet face to face at Jeneora Rock before Knives destroys the place. At that point, Vash is running out of options, having been rejected by the townspeople he worked so hard to protect and decides to face his brother head on in JuLai. Vash travels with a trio of companions in an effort to make it all the way there.

Ultimately, Vash will meet Knives in JuLai and through Knives' actions, will inadvertantly decimate the entire town when his powers go completely out of control, to be known in the future as the JuLai incident, earning him a $$60,000,000,000 bounty.

Canon Point: Prior to encountering Knives, after being shot in JuLai.
Canon Iteration: Original Canon
Canon Iteration Explanation: Trigun Stampede is a remake of Trigun and the storyline is a prequel to the main Trigun story. The subsequent season to come will be the story proper. It's mostly Trigun Maximum manga accurate.

★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★

Skills:

* Gunslinging
* Stuffing his face
* Getting into trouble
* Running away

Canon Abilities:

* Plant aging: Maturity from baby to teenager takes roughly only a year. After that, plants will age from teenagers to adulthood through normal years, but physically they will stop aging at that point. They can live a very long time, as long as their energy is not expended.

* Superhuman reflexes/speed/strength/regeneration: He's not human and so he doesn't react like one. It's safe to say nearly everything about him exceeds human capabilities. His regeneration cannot regrow limbs. He can completely heal any manner of serious injuries otherwise.

* Generator/Gate Access: Vash is not a very good generator of power, he's not good at producing things. He does however carry a gate inside of him that gives access to the power that all plants draw upon. He presently does not know how to use this.

* Angel Power: Vash can generate and draw upon enough power to enhance his already superhuman abilities. Several things can manifest under this power -
Angel Wings: These wings are not meant for flight, but for protection. They can also morph and shift to turn the feathers to blades. Vash does not need to be conscious for the wings to activate and protect him. He presently does not know how to use this.
Levitation/Flight: Not caused by the wings, but through the manipulation of gravity.
Enhanced Senses
Teleportation: Can be used over great distances, if he's in a rush. Takes a huge toll on his energy levels. Vash avoids using this, he prefers to travel like a human.
Barrier: Vash can erect a barrier to protect an area from anything as big as a missle hit or less. He presently does not know how to use this.
Bullet Creation: He can create black bullets. He presently does not know how to use this.

* Weaponized Core: He can draw from the core and use it as a weapon of mass destruction. He presently does not know how to use this.

* Plant whisperer: Vash can talk to other plants and connect with them. When doing this the marks that denote him as a plant appear on his exposed skin.

Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: Wings and a halo, these ones are meant for flight. White, unlike his black ones he usually has in combat.
Role Reasoning: Vash's entire ethos of wanting to protect all life and shower all life with love and kindess as a martyr figure is very much in line with the many Legends. He has endless mercy and compassion and will sacrifice his discomfort to appease someone's vengeance. His body tells the tale, countless scars and wounds from people hurting him over and over again to satisfy their needs and desires at his expense, and still he has nothing but an endless well of love for those around him. It would be incredibly difficult to find anything at all that Vash has done to hurt someone else intentionally. He deeply cares about those around him, even if it's not reciprocated.

OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH:

  • What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?

  • Without a doubt the major turning point in Vash's life was the the destruction and subsequent crash of the SEEDS ship. During the crash, their caretaker Rem sacrificed herself to let the pair of them escape, giving up her life so Vash and Nai could live. To add to the horror, he found out that Nai crashed the ship using information he gave him about accessing the navigation system. Vash was devastated. He was captured by another group of SEEDS and locked up as a prisoner. He sank into a deep depression until he realized he could still be of help by connecting with the plants that the people were protecting, soothing his sisters' anxieties.

    Vash was deeply traumatized both by Nai's actions and the loss of Rem. He wasn't treated very kindly by the people for quite some time, a trend that would continue into the future. He responded to this by accepting that it was his fault that humans were stuck on Noman's Land. He sees every disaster attributed to him as his responsibility because he hasn't been able to shut down Nai's actions and he allows people to take their revenge on him to ease their suffering. The trauma of losing all those people he cared so deeply about resonated to the point he refuses to kill anyone and will keep any harm down to a minimum.

  • What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?

  • Without a doubt the most important and defining relationship that Vash has is with his twin brother Nai. They grew up together and he always had a deep affinity for him even if his brother didn't always want him around. Fundamentally, the two completely differ on their life philosophies and this has led to conflict because neither will relent their side. Vash treasures all life, while Nai believes in plant supremacy. Vash believes Nai is misguided because the plants need people to look after them, as much as they look after the people and Nai sees humanity as enslavers and users. Nai wants to force Vash to understand his perspective and Vash just wants his brother to come around and be his brother again. This relationship is a toxic mess, and Nai stalking and getting Vash hurt is an extremely terribly situation for Vash, and one he thinks is a true tragedy. It encroaches on much of his life.

    The other defining relationship he had was with Rem Saverem. She was their primary caretaker and someone that taught Vash important lessons like how to care for the people around him. She showered the pair with love and affection and tried to give them something of a childhood to latch onto. For Vash she represents the best of humanity. Her kindness, her gentle nature, her mercy and her love were all things he realized that people were capable and losing her was a huge devastating heartache. He remembers her fondly, even now, and regrets that he was unable to do something to save her. He solemnly appreciates her sacrifice, and it drives him to continue forward.

  • What is your character's moral code? Do they have one? Why or why not?

  • Vash has a deeply entrenched moral code. He doesn't think people should hurt each other and he will actively protect those from harm. He knows that people often feel anger and desire revenge, but he doesn't believe in that either. He believes that everyone is redeemable. Despite being a master gunslinger, he more often than not refuses to draw his weapon, which would escalate the situation. No matter who he faces down and stops, he is trying to save them too, from themselves and their self-destructive actions. He is reluctant to cause harm in any form, and incredibly unwilling to kill, no matter what kind of situation he finds himself in. He thinks that those who do evil, harmful things are more misguided than anything and if they knew kindness they might change their ways.

    Some of this code comes from his inherent nature, he's always been a very sweet, caring individual, even when he was very small - but some of it is born from his experiences too. He has seen some of the ugliest sides of humanity, and known pain and betrayal time and time again but his philosophies have not wavered.

    Mostly, he has to believe this - because to believe otherwise would make his brother an irredeemable monster, and he doesn't want to believe that.

  • What is a time where your character failed drastically at something and how did it impact them, what did they do about it?

  • The confrontation at Jeneora Rock was a massive failure on Vash's part, one in a long line of them over the years, in his opinion. His time in Jeneora was mixed. It was good for awhile, and people showed him kindness. He saved the town a few times, but he couldn't save them from Nai, when he turned up and started slaughtering people to steal their plants. Nai took it one step further when he destroyed the town despite Vash pleading for him to spare them.

    Even though Vash tried so hard to save them, and stand up for them, they just saw him as the brother of a monster and cast him out with the harshest words. Vash accepted this decision and despite being miserable, he smiled because he doesn't believe he should be allowed to feel sadness for people's rejections over his failings. He believes he deserves that mistreatment. The loss sent him into something of a depressive episode, despite his haunted smile and he was refusing to eat. A chance meeting with Nicholas D. Wolfwood and something he said convinced him that he still deserved that much. The events at Jeneora, like any events like that in the past, weigh on his mind and he grieves the losses rather openly. In time, it'll fade, but Vash won't forget.

    The night sky was so clear, and it was cool, a gentle breeze blowing through his hair. Vash enjoyed the little things like that, he found himself thinking as he was lying on a walkway in yet another town. This one was much smaller than most he’d visited, but that didn’t make it less interesting.

    It was nights like this that he couldn’t help but remember the darkness of the sky lit up by fire as they crashed into the planet. Nights like this that he couldn’t help but wonder what Nai was thinking, where he was, and wondering when he would stop hurting people. Thinking of the crash landing and Nai had him thinking about Rem and her smile as she told them to be safe.

    He let out a deep, heavy sigh. Vash shifted, resting his head on his right bicep. Thinking about Rem made him feel heavy, his breath catching slightly. He had no right to be so upset, and he knew that. That knowledge didn’t make him feel better. He swallowed thickly, he could feel a lump in his throat even after all this time.

    Vash’s thoughts were interrupted by Meryl’s voice calling to him and he blinked and his sad expression melted into a gentle smile.

    Yeah, he was sad, even though he had no right to be – but at the moment? He had friends who were travelling with him.

    Things were good.
